Members of the Waterford Ambulance Service loaded W-500 up with two musical organs and 11 guitars and drove 753 miles round-trip to Walter Reed Hospital to donate the musical instruments to Operation: Music Aid, where the instruments are distributed to wounded troops. One organ went to the hospital chapel, the other to a house used by family while visiting troops.
"We were all taken aback by how young the troops were and how seriously injured they were, but their morale was really high. The guitars we brought were all gone by the time we left", said Brian Anderson.
Before returning to Connecticut, the EMS members stopped at the White House for this photo. |
